I finally got a datagrid of some kind to work!!  I have been messing with flexigrid for the last 5 days.  I could get it to render, but no data/record sets would be recovered from a static xml file. Firebug said that it found the xml and seen the elements.   I tried your application today, modeling the datamapping demonstration, and it worked after finding my missing commas in script.  THANK YOU!!  Feels good to have a break through!!!

The contract that I am working on currently has a restriction of no data manipulation on server side (NO php, asp, java).  All of the data manipulation has to be done client side.  This is not hard, just a bandwidth hog.  Data format must remain in XML format for the time being, until I can convence the Army to convert it to JSON.

My XML 'libraries' have an accompanining XSD with them and a standalone attribute set to "YES".  Since I have just started using your datagrid (and will probably stick with it - I see lots of future uses for it!), is this XSD going to cause me any problems??  Is there a way that I can make use of it???

Hello,

Thanks for pointing us this.

To be a honest with you I never try the grid with XML/XSD.

In princip I think that this will not cause any problems (I hope) since the XSD by definition is:

"Short for XML Schema Definition, a way to describe and validate data in an XML environment. (A schema is a model for describing the structure of information.) XSD is a recommendation of the W3C."

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/X/XSD.html

Also any experiance on this is welcome. Also we will test this too.

Thank you.

Best Regards

Tony

Tony,

thanks for the information and a boad of confidence.  After I get my xml element structure set and jqGrid reading each of the xml library files, I will attach my xsd(s) to the xml files and see what breaks.  I will keep this forum adviced to what I find.

Tony
