jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

As a new user to both jquery and jqGrid, I have read post after post from newbies asking for help. It seems that most of the requests go unanswered. There are many of us that are trying to learn new things, but it can be difficult without help from those that understand the technology. I myself, am a coldfusion programmer that rose from the old dBase II, dBaseiii+ , and Clipper ranks. jquery and jqgrid are nothing like what I am used to, which leads me to forums like this one. I have read many posts, and there seems to be a common thread that the downloaded demo apps do not work. In my case all the XML apps work, but none of the demos using JSON work. I can run the online demos for JSON fine, but have been unable to make any work from my Localhost using Xampp and Apache.One of the ways many of us learn is from demos and sifting thru the working code. In the case of jqGrid, I have pound out out line after line of code trying to get the download JSON demos to work. I have read every post asking for working demos, and it appears no one wants to offer their assistance to the newbies.

Maybe I am spoiled from my dBase, Clipper and Coldfusion experiences, but if this is not the place to come for help with jqGrid, then please someone point me in the correct direction. I can understand not wanting to answer the same questions over and over in a forum, but when there is a common thread without any answer or resolution, it makes me wonder why....
