jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

Can a 'row' within a jqGrid contain another jqGrid?

Some background: 

Have a datatype of:

public class NationalDrugCode

{

    public string ID;

    public string UnitofMeasure;

    public List<string> listOfBarCodes;

}

For data entry/editing would like to define a jqGrid to support in-line add/edit/delete functions.  Would like to define grid row contents as:

   Column 1: ID, datatype: text

   Column 2: Unit of Measure, datetype: Select containing pre-defined Units of Measure ( GR, ML, ...)

   Column 3: Bar Codes, datatype: grid (with inline add/edit/delete functions for bar codes)

Have read the 'subgrid' documents but have not found anything about placing a grid in a cell in a row inside another grid.  Am I missing something here about 'subgrids' or is there another way to go?
