I think there is a bug in the ToolBar Search.  When you have an field index that contains a space you get an uncaught Exception error.  in example  here is my colModel

colModel:[
      {name:'ID',index:'ID', width:250, label:"ID",hidden:true,key:true},
      {name:'CertName',index:'CertName', width:250, label:"Cert Name",search: true, searchoptions: { sopt: ['cn','eq', 'bw', 'ew' ]}},
      {name:'CertExpires',index:'CertExpires', width:90, label:"Expires Date",formatter: ColorDateformatter, search:false},
      {name:'CertDate',index:'CertDate', width:90, label:"Cert Date",formatter:"date", formatoptions:{srcformat: 'Y-m-d',newformat: 'm/d/Y'},search:false},
      {name:'per Name',index:'per Name', width:190, label:"Name",search: true, searchoptions: { sopt: ['cn','eq', 'bw', 'ew' ]}},
      {name:'LeadName',index:'LeadName', width:170, label:"CrewLead",search: true, searchoptions: { sopt: ['cn','eq', 'bw', 'ew' ]}}
      ],

and here is my toolbar

        .jqGrid('filterToolbar',{stringResult:true})

When i try to search any field i get this error

     "uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [name=per Name]"

i only get this error on the search toolbar.  i can use other forms of search and it works fine.  changing the "per Name" index, and my data feed to "perName" corrects this error and the search works fine

Hello,

As described into the documentation, the name and index properies in colModel can not contain spaces.

Regards
