Hi,

After searching the docs and forums, I haven't been able to find out what the XML data sent from the server should look like  after a user clicks on Submit in an Edit or Add form. Either an example in XML or JSON would be helpful.

Also, am I missing something? I'm not seeing any data examples other than what is sent from the server to populate a grid. Is there a place in the docs that I have missed? I'm a noobie to jqGrid, and so far a I really like it. My only wish is that there wer more language neutral examples of the data going to and from the server. IOW, examples of both XML and JSON data sent from the web page to the server, and that sent from the server to the web page. I'd be glad to put examples together once I know how its done, and share them with the other users.

Thanks in advance!!

Sloan

jqGrid adds two parameters to the values that are posted to the server id, and oper. in edition your server method indicated in editurl will recive id: rowID , and oper: 'edit' + all editable fields.

Thanks,

I know that part, what I'm looking for is what the server sends back in response to receiving that data. Do you just send the data back to the server?

there are a lot of event that you can use like afterComplete(serverResponse, postdata, formid) take a look at documentation Editing part and you can find what you're looking for.

Thanks MamaliFrenchi,

I must be dense, but the data returned from afterComplete only shows what the program on my server sent back. I knew what that would be since I wrote the program on the server.

I went back to the docs as you suggested, but it doesn't say what jqGrid expects the server to return. It just explains that data is sent to the server. I had figured out what that data is by writing a program on the server that stored what it received.

I guess that the right way to ask the question is:

What does jqGrid expect the server to return after submitting an Add or Edit.

Sorry to be so slow in understanding what you are saying,

Sloan
