Way to Prefill Search Filters?

Is there a way to have a default configuration for the search box on the initial load? I thought the defaultValue setting in searchoptions would do what I wanted, but I can't see that it's doing anything. Does it not work the same if I've specified multipleGroup: true? I could probably automatically trigger click and change events to get the appearance the way I wanted it to be, but the widget doesn't exist until the search button is clicked.

Alternatively, is there a way to have the reset button just clear the grid and not submit a request without any filters?

I have the same challenge. I would like to load the grid initiall with a filter in place.
