jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I can successfully set up DnD (see config details below), but if I make the grids also sortable, I get erratic behavior.  My draggable grid cannot use sorting at all, and my droppable grids end up with blank rows when attempting to sort, or sometimes don't sort at all.

Here's my config:

Grid A: Draggable, connected with Grid B, Grid C, and Grid D

Grids B-D: (droppable impled by connectWith call on Grid A)

1) Are we supposed to be able to make connected (e.g. gridDnD, connectWith) tables also sortable?

2) If so, is there any special config required to get these working together?
