jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I am rendering my grid with the following PHP call:

$transaction_grid->renderGrid('#transaction_grid','#pager1',true, null, null, true,true);

Then calling this:

$("#transaction_grid").jqGrid('navGrid','#pager1', { edit:false,add:false,del:false,search:true,refresh:true }, {},  {}, {},  {multipleSearch:true} );

This is my object configuration:

        $transaction_search = array('caption' => 'Filter', 'Find' => 'Find', 'Reset' => 'Reset', 'odata' => array(''), 'groupOups' => array(''), 'matchText' => 'match', 'rulesText' => 'rules');
        $transaction_grid->setGridOptions(array('width' => '1295', 'caption' => 'Transactions', 'rowNum' => '50', 'search' => $transaction_search));

But the magnifying glass and refresh icons don't show up on my toolbar.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
