Hi,

I'm new to the forum and to JQGrid and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.  I have a grid which uses Inline editing, seems to be rendering correctly etc.

Issue I have is that I have a <select> element on one colum of the grid.  It has a large number of values, some of which are similar (they are user names).

My user has tested the grid and has identified a problem in relation to the time that is available in order to enter text to shortcut to a select option.  We are trying to use the grid with mainly keyboard entry, but find that the time allowed for entry of text to go to an option is too short.

For example assume the select has a few hundred users, and several have similar names eg Andrew Green, Andrew Brown, Andrea Pink, Anthea White....

User enters A.... N.... D.... and the select responds by selecting the first user.  However as the user continues to enter letters, the select process times out, and select jumps to letter R... Frown

Is there any way to increase the time allowed to make a shortcut text entry associated with a select element?

BTW, the grid is generally a cracking piece of coding.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks in advance folks.

Hello,

Could you please try the construct the same select with the same values, but not using jqGrid - just the select in html page.

Is the result the same?

Best Regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

As suggested I've setup the same list with a plain SELECT / OPTION on a regular web form.  Behaviour is the same as within JQGrid form.

Looks like this is browser specific behaviour & not specific to JQGrid, will need to see if there is an option to extend the time period in the browser.

Thanks for your help

Andrew.
