I have a grid with one editable column, which is a drop down list. When the grid is loaded, am making each row of this column editable. I would like to be able to save the data whenever the user makes a selection from the list, without requiring them to press the Enter key.
I verified that the Change event is fired when a dropdown is selected:
editoptions: { value:"ACE:ACE;ACC:ACC;DSP:DSP;PKU:PKU;DLV:DLV",
dataEvents: [ type: 'change',
fn: function(e) { {
alert('Order is ' + JSON.stringify(e.target.parentNode.parentNode.childNodes[0].innerHTML));
} ] } }
I think my disconnect is that I need the row_id, and I am not getting it from the 'change'. Is there a better way?

HEllo,
Yes it is possible and you can do what you want logic. The idea is to use the onSelectRow event.
Go into the demo
http://trirand.com/blog/jqgrid.....qgrid.html
Open the Row editing tree item and then Using Events example.
Replace the onSelectRow event with this:
onSelectRow: function(id)
{ if(id && id!==lastsel) {
jQuery('#rowed3').jqGrid('saveRow',lastsel);
jQuery('#rowed3').jqGrid('editRow',id,true); lastsel=id;
}
},
As you can see we have replace the restoreRow with save row function
Best Regards
Tony
