Preserve row selection after client-side sort

I am using client-side sorting and am losing the currently selected row's "highlight" when any column header is clicked to sort the data.  I can manage this programmatically if I can identify an event that executes immediately following a client-side sort, but I have so far been unable to find such an event.  Can anyone help?

This is in the options of the grid

"deselectAfterSort":true

thats the default.

Thank you -- if that works, it will be a perfect solution.

However, the version of the jqGrid that I am using predates this feature.  What was the default behavior prior to the introduction of the deselectAfterSort property?  Were there any workarounds?

If I must upgrade, I must upgrade; but this application was very close to moving to production, so an upgrade would delay that due to testing requirements...

I am using the onGridSort event to save off the ID of the selected row.  What I need is an event that occurs AFTER the client-side sort to reselect the row.  Is there such an animal?

Thank you -- I'd already found that wiki page but didn't see an event that occurs after the data is sorted in the grid.  Which event should I be using?
