position grid to show specific lines

hello,
I have around 250 rows in a grid; using no pager.
Data is populated via a JSON-Request.
After populating I need to position the grid so that rows 170ff are shown. And to move the grid to this position programmatically.
What API shall I call? Which part of the documentaiton to read?
