hello..

I wish to know how i can pass a value from one cell to another.

I try to use aftereditcell.. etc.. but failed...

example..

I have 4 cell in a row..

cell 1> item ( which I get by using autocomplete) [user fill in]

cell 2> name of site [user fill in]

cell 3> amount (total amount of item needed) [user fill in]

cell 4> amount budget (each item have an amount already budgeted .. based on item and project site) [generate by the system]

User will keyin the name of item and the name of the site  (both from autocomplete) .. so, when the user focus on cell 3 - "amount", cell 4 - "amount budget" value will be automatically populated with a value through a function which will collect the data from the database..

from there user will be able to keyin the amount base not exceeding the budget value.

Can someone show me how this can be achieved... some coding or working example would be nice..!

really appreciate d ur help....

I found this article from the net..  but I just dunno how to achieve this...

"For example: If you put an id in one of the cells and want to auto populate info in other cells u can use afterEditCell where u specify a custom function which will receive rowid, cellname, value, iRow, iCol and check if the iRow is the same row as your id, take that value and populate other cells based on that value. - basically auto complete

Or can use beforeEditCell event and create your own function which will receive rowid, cellname, value, iRow, iCol and return result will be placed in the cell."

can someone guide me...hellppp!!

can someone just give me a hint..  i found out that afterEditCell etc.. can only be used in cell editing... so is it possible to do this in inline editing... Update a cell value when another cell value changes on the same row..
