I'm using aspnet MVC and wondering if there is way to have the grid pass a list of the columns being display (array,delimited string,etc) to the server fetch data call as another parameter so that I can build a more efficient select statement and return only the data required.

You can use a postData object to pass the needed information if I understand right.
