I love jqGrid, and my team is hoping to make it a major new part of our large organization. However, we absolutely need multi-level grouping.
Is multi-level grouping built into jqGrid or is it a planned feature for the near future?
If not, does someone have an idea of creating a work-around without having to modify the plug-in directly?
Thanks a lot!

Is something like this what you're looking for?

If so, if you have the most recent version of jqGrid, all you have to do is add 'multipleGroup: true' to the prmSearch section in the navgrid method. So something like this:
jQuery("#list").jqGrid('navGrid','#pager',{edit:false,add:false,del:false,search:true,refresh:true},{},{},{},{multipleSearch:true,multipleGroup:true,overlay:false, recreateFilter:true});
The server script that processes the request will have to be able to work with the nested filter information that it gets sent though.

Thanks for the reply.
However, I'll be more specific. Please see this question newly posted on Stack Overflow.

But do you have any ideas on how to implement this kind of grouping/aggregation?
I'm thinking that I may have to perform the grouping on the server and send the grouped data and "expand" links to the client. When the client clicks these "expand" links, the server regroups accordingly. The problem would be keeping track of all of the "expand" links.
It certainly wouldn't be an ideal solution.
