jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I can access mssql data through php using sqlsvr and display it in a table. How would I get this data into a jqgrid.

require_once "../includes/jquery/php/jqGrid.php";
require_once "../includes/jquery/php/jqGridPdo.php";

define('DB_DSN','server=localhost;dbname=database');
define('DB_USER', 'user');     // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'pwd'); // ...and password

$conn = new PDO(DB_DSN,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORD);

The code runs until $conn = new PDO, then nothing happens

Any guidance would be great thank you.
