How to update userdata

Hi All,

I am just new to JqGrid, I got stuck while updating the userdata variable. Is there any way to update the userdata at run time when any value in the column is changed?

A little background on what I am trying to achieve, I have made one of my columns in the grid as editable and want to update the corresponding userdata in the footer row when any value in the cell is changed.

I tried following but of no use.

$("#list").setGridParam({userData: {'AssignedBudget':totalValue}});

Could you please let me know the right way to set?
