jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I have a grid with a select box and I am using the dataEvents type 'change'. 

After the change is made I would like the drop-down list to unselect/disappear, but the cell to be still be selected (the equivalent state as hitting 'enter' would have set).

I tried both setSelection and resetSelection, but neither work.

dataEvents:[type:"change", {fn:function(e){var thisgrid = e.data; thisgrid.resetSelection();}}]

I have also tried:

dataEvents:[type:"change", {fn:function(e){$('#mygrid').resetSelection();}}]

Any ideas?
