I see that you use custom theme - right? Check if the padding and borders are equall on both header and body in the css?

Tony, thanks for the reply...
NO... it's not a custom theme. It' s the coffee grid.css out of the box with the graphic files that surround the grid commented out. The only change was some of the colors. Formatting remained untouched. It's worth repeating that this behavior occurs ONLY on grids with a hidden column in them. Grids without a hidden column look perfect! What is it about hidden columns?
