Greek characters problem

I am using jqGrid (using the appropriate localization file grid.locale-el.js) and although it is working properly displaying Greek characters. The same does not apply in getting data from the Grid (saving to the database etc), it loses Greek characters.

Any thoughts, how this can be solved?
