E is null (jquery 1.3.2)

i'm currenytly trying to integrating jqGrid to code igniter framework. i was using flexigrid in mywebsite. and were using jquery 1.2.6. When tried to upgrade my jquery 1.2.6 to 1.3.2 this error occured found by Firebug "E is null". And trace it to jquery 1.3.2.min.js file.

What does this mean? could anyone help me with this.

FYI: i've been able to use the jqGrid in CI but still no data retrieve, still a long way to go., but really interested in implementing jqGrid to CI.

Hello,

The most common problem is that you forget to set datatype to json - i.e you datatype is the default one - xml, but you provide a json response.

i have solved this problem by using this header:

header("Content-type:text/xml;charset=utf-8",true);

The second parameter is important to override a previous content type header.
