Display Empty Grid

I have a HTML form that upon user submission will make an AJAX call via the jqGrid trigger("reloadGrid"). Prior to the user submitting the form, I would like to show an empty jqGrid (i.e. the column headers will display and the jqGrid will display with defined width and height, but no row data will be displayed).

Is it possible to display an empty grid without making a server request?

Does anyone know if creating (displaying) an empty grid is possilbe without a server call (as describe above)? Many thanks in advance for your help.
