default sort on grid not working

Tony,

I'm running 3.5.2: If I give the grid a default sort column [ sortname: "xyz", ], then after the grid loads and click the xyz column to change the sort order, the sort doesn't work. If I sort any other column and then sort the xyz column it starts working. If I leave the default sort column blank [ sortname: "", ] then it work properly on the first attempt.
