dataUrl - pause while loading??

I'm using the dataUrl option to load a drop downlist in an add form. Functionally this is working fine.

My lookup is taking a few seconds. Behavior right now is an empty list is dispalyed until the request to the server completes. So for a few seonds the user has an empty list to select from, then it gets populated.

Is there way show a loading dialog or at least *not* display the form until the lookup is complete?
