Hello,

First, thanks for developping JQGrid, it's really gread plugin and good to use.

However, I have a problem with editing, doesn't know if it's bug or just something missing… so any help will be welcomed :)

I am using the grid in Form editing mode, data is retrieved from XML file. Then, I want to work on client side only.

As it is not possible to work on client side only (which is really a pity…) I have editurl to a dummy server page doing nothing..

In some cells, for edition, I want to use custom elements (in edit properties). It's going very fine, but when I display the form to edit the cells, the datas in the custom elements are not inserted. If I change record or open the form again, they are inserted. I don't understand why.  (code is on ASP.net page and quite huge so better not to send it here, if required can send later...)

Thanks so much for any help !!

Pierre

Hi again,

Just went through the source code of JQGrid to understand my problem.

I think I found out why it doesn't show data, but maybe there is something else to do to make it work ?

When the form is constructed with "EditGridRow" function, the "CreateData" function is called, which calls the "$.jgrid.createEl" function. If edittype is "custom", this method bind the HTML element but doesn't set up the value. So, this why the custom element doesn't show any data at first when the form is displayed. Should CreateEl function binds value data also or should it be done somewhere else ?

For the time being, i use the custom_element method to call custom_value and therefore set the value. Is the way it is supposed to be used ?

Thanks !!

Pierre
