jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I need to add a simple pulldown selector in the pager that allows users to select a type of item to display in the grid.  The grid I've developed shows items from across a number of different types of data models.   I need to simply allow the user to select the type, and have that act as the search post.  I can handle the action once I can see how to get a pulldown in the nav bar.

Buttons are OK.. I'm using custom actions on those already.. But I need to add this pulldown menu to the nav / pager bar.
