changing cell from non-editable to editable after grid loads doesnt work..

In my scenario as the grid loads the column is not editable. It becomes editable when another column gets changed.

I have tried this but it doesn't seem to be working..

jQuery("#"+gridName).jqGrid('setCell',rowId,colId,htmlData,'','{editable:true}');

When I submit my data, I want this columns values to be sent to the server. But since jqgrid only sends editable columns, my columns data is not sent.

According to the jqgrid documentation, the 5th paraemter in the setCell method is the properties. I presume I am setting this correctly here as I am not getting any errors.

Any ideas? I am using the struts2-jquery plugin.
