jQuery Grid Plugin - jqGrid

I have a table containing a list of items that the user can select using the checkboxes in the far left column. The table sits inside a form that, when submitted, submits the checkbox values as well.

e.g.

<form>

  <table>

    <tr>

      <td><input type="checkbox" name="listitems" value="1"></td>

      <td>Item 1</td>

      <td>This is a list item</td>

    </tr>

    ...

  </table>

</form>

The problem is that tableToGrid is changing the name of the checkboxes, thus messing with the form post. Is there a way to stop it doing that?
