call custom function when clicking on "add new row" icon

hi,
i want to call a custom js function when clicking on the "new row" icon on the bottom of the grid.
i bet its dead simple, i saw something like: jQuery('#itemList').jqGrid('editRow','new',true);
but im not sure how i would call a certain custom function with this.
thanks in ahead for ideas
