auto-selecting all chars in cell-edit

Is there a way to have a cell automatically select all the characters when it enters edit mode? Quite often the user wants to totally replace the contents instead of changing a few characters. When tabbing and typing rapidly, it is a real pain to have to hit ctrl-A or to backspace a zillion times. Is there an option for this or do I need to change the jqGrid source code?

Hi there,

I've put this functionality in my grid by selecting the input element by its id (if you use firebug you will see that the ID's follow a naming convention), and then calling the javascript focus() method. This is done in the event where I put the row into edit mode. That way no changes to the jqgrid source code was needed.

I dont have my source code atm so can't show u the code, but i hope that helps
