Hi,

I'm using jqGrid 3.5. Can someone point out the error here (see live at http://rioleo.org/dev/grid2/)

<script type=”text/javascript”>
$(document).ready(function(){

var response = “[{'id':'5','name':'john smith'}]“;

jQuery(”#list2″).jqGrid({
    datatype: “json”,
    colNames:["id","Name"],

    colModel:[

         {name:"id",index:"id", width:30},

         {name:"name",index:"name", width:150},

    ],
    viewrecords: true,

    caption: “”,

    height: “auto”,
    jsonReader: {

      root: “rows”,

      page: “page”,

      total: “total”,

      records: “records”,

      repeatitems: false,

      cell: “”,

      id: “id”}
    });
    var temp = jQuery(”#list2″);
    temp[0].addJSONData(eval(”(”+response+”)”));
});

</script>
</head>

<body>
<!– the grid definition in html is a table tag with class 'scroll' –>
<table id=”list2″ class=”scroll” cellpadding=”0″ cellspacing=”0″></table>

Thank you!

Note there isn't an error with any of the jQuery or jQGrid js files. The demo worked when using a url to return JSON data.

Hello,

var response = “[{'id':'5','name':'john smith'}]“;

jQuery(”#list2″).jqGrid({
    datatype: function(){

var temp = jQuery(”#list2″);
    temp[0].addJSONData(eval(”(”+response+”)”));

},
    colNames:["id","Name"],

    colModel:[

         {name:"id",index:"id", width:30},

         {name:"name",index:"name", width:150},

Hello again,

sorry put a save button before finishing

you should

var response = “{ [{'id':'5','name':'john smith'}] }“;

and configure jsonReader for this.

Please first refer to documentatin before posting issue.

Also you can use the addJsonData in the way that you have - i.e not in datatype function.

Best Regards

Tony
