Hi
First of all, very cool grid.. Been using in some petproject and works great.
Here is my problem..
I have a rather big dataset and want to filter this by default, for my case I want to filter the dataset by a user defined date range. So what Im looking for is to have two textboxes where you define the daterange and when the users clicks on filter, I adds those values to the querystring and get the new data ( so some sort of predefined search) .
Those textboxed shall be "outside" the grid.
Any ideas how to fix this?

A good starting point would be to look at a similar example; check out the demo page:
http://trirand.com/blog/jqgrid.....qgrid.html
and then section -> New in version 3.2 -> Custom Button and Forms
I would build a similar form from above, only instead of a save button trigger an event that uses the 'setColProp' method to change the url that makes the data request. ('editoptions':dataURL'). the new url would need to include your date ranges.
