hi. i'm new in this jqgrid kind of thing. i like the simplicity in it so that we just had to do less to make some pretty good site instead of doing some long and tiresome coding. but i wanna know is this jqgrid are customizable enough so other user (i mean developer) can customize it all he wants? for example is what i wanna do here. can i change how the form editing looks like? or can i change it so when i click the add/edit button it will call a page that i wanted, not the page it usually called. if it can be done, how can i do so? my friend said that it couldn't be done but he wasn't really sure about it so i need to know this

thanks in advance

Hello,

The asnswer is not exactly yes or no.

As you know we use jQuery UI Theming in order to provide professional look of the grid and all its components.

You can also change the colors icons and etc.

You can change the order and grouping of the fields (see demos).

But if you want to have a full control of the form - this is not possible in the current release.

You can also call your own form when you click a custom button in the pager.

In this case you will need to do all the thing about posting and etc.

For this purpose we have created some helper methods like FormToGrid and GridToForm - see these methods

in the docs.

Hope this is enought as starting.

Kind Regards

For professional UI suites for Java Script and PHP visit us at our commercial products site - guriddo.net - by the very same guys that created jqGrid.

hello tony, thanks for the reply.

so you're saying that we can change some looks of it but don't really have a full control of how it looks like or how we want it to act?

yes i've seen the demos. that's why i'm asking is it just limited to that or we can do some other thing with it.

by the way, i've take on your suggestion to use a custom button, but i had a bit of a problem with it as i asked here. would you kindly help me to solve it?
