jqGrid 4.3 has frooze column feature in code.
Frozen column border is not visible and there is no users interface to frooze/unfrooze columns.
How to allow end users to use this feature for selection any number of columns, for example:
- Double click in column border in header froses left columns
- Frozed columns border line becomes bold, wider and changes color a little
How to implement this or anoy other way to froze/unfroze and show frozen columns vie user interface ?
This is posted also in http://stackoverflow.com/quest.....-interface

Tony,
I understand the feature request of kobruleht not as API support to make the column frozen. I see as the feature request to provide GUI for the user like the Column Chooser where the user can mark some columns as frozen. Alternatively it could be for example the feature of the context menu of the column header.
The intruduction of API to freeze the columns is sure the first and the most important step, but providing of GUI for the user to freeze or to "unfreeze" the column could be, in my opinion, also intersting feature on the next step.
Best regards
Oleg

Thank you. Yes, I asked for user intefare. There are possibilities:
1. Something Excel like: (I asked about froozing using double click in column header line, maybe this is excel like)
2. Toolbar button and context menu
3. Additional option in column chooser.
4. Combo box is toolbar Freeze to column contianing column names.
"Excel like" may look best for users.
I tried trirand.com testcase and it allows to sort by frozen and unfrozen columns.
So dont understand this in wiki page Tony referenced:
It looks like sort does not restrict column frooze.

Hello,
This type of requierment is out of the concept that jqGrid has:
Let suppose we create a button in the pager. After this someone will say – "I do not want this in the pager. I want it in the column chooser."
Then we develop it for the column chooser.
After that someone will ask – it is possible to have this on the column header and soo on.
I think you underrstand the point.
If you know jqGrid little everyone can develop this for his requierments. We prowide just basic things.
Kind Regards

Tony,
thank you very much for reply. This covers first part of proposal: adding UI. We have different opinions about this.
The second part of proposal was about providing visual clue so that frozen column border can seen. Currently jqGrid has sort indicators for sorted columns, highlight for selected columns etc.
It is not required to implement them by everyone, they are provided by jqGrid.
How about adding similar visual indication for frozed column border ? (I proposed bold, wider column separator line with a bit different color)?
Also what does this sentence in jqGrdi frozen column docs
mean? It looks like sort does not restrict column frooze so I don't understand this.

Hello,
About the border of the visual column - yes this have sense.
You can style this using the folowing classe:
"frozen-div" is the class for the frozen header
"frozen-bdiv" is the class for the frozen data
We will see in the future how to style this. Recommendations are welcome.
About the sortabble sentence - this is my error. Fixed. Thanks
Kind Regards
Tony
