Hello Tony,
I see frequently the requirement to make some specific cells of one column editable and hold another cells of the same column non-editable. Currently one have to make some tricks and change the value of editable property of the column temporary. One have to do this before calling of rowEdit (like here or here). In case of usage of inlineNav or formatter: "actions" the code will be more complicatred. In the old answer I used overwriting ("subclassing") of $.fn.fmatter.rowactions.
What I suggest is to make modifications of the code of editRow and editGridRow to allow to use callback function editable instead of static testing for true (see here, here and here). One need just to consider which parameters should have the callback function editable. In any way rowid is required. The value of the current cell and other cells of the row would be practical too. One should consider the best implementation of such requirements. One could evaluate the rowData only in case of editable property defined as a function. In the case the code will be not slowly as now.
I think that it would be good in some cases to support "not-editable-cell" class in inline editing and form editing in the same way like in cell editing now. In the case one could use cellattr instead of defining editable as function.
I hope that implemention of both features (editable property as callback function abd support of "not-editable-cell" class of cell) would be good features for the next release. What is your opinion about this?
Best regards
Oleg
