Hi,
for our current project we needed a non-obtrusive grid. By default jqGrid isn't so we added some functionality. First of all, we build up a colModel and rowData + selection from an existing table. Then we create the jqGrid.
Additionally to that we made jqGrid add a hidden input field with the current value if singleSelect and gave all checkboxes a name and value if multiselect. So everything works fine on form submit.
If you are interested I could share some code (it really isn't that much).
jqGrid is simply awesome, btw! There are still some issues (like dynamic width, resizing) but it is one of the best grids out there. Keep up the good work!

Hello Peter,
Are you saying that you have it so that when you submit your form the contents of the jqGrid are accessible?
This sounds like the solution to a problem I have -- I have a form with many fields, developed long before I knew about jQuery, that I want to be able to submit so I can access both normal form fields plus what's in jqGrid. (I actually have dozens, of forms like this and I don't want to rewrite everything using the form plugin).
So if your approach works to solve my problem, I would be delighted to see a sample of your code.

yes, with my patch jqGrid integrates seamlessly with regular forms making jqGrid completely non-obtrusive. I already sent the patch to Tony. The changes are minimal, btw.

That is really good news. I have very little experience in writing javascript so I'm going to wait for Tony to incorporate it into the package (that way I also do not have to keep making the change when I am testing new releases).
