        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>OK, I think I&#39;ve worked out the sorting issue. It was my problem; the jqGrid sends a parameter to the AJAX url named &#39;sidx&#39; with the column to sort on and a parameter named &#39;sord&#39; with the order. Hope this helps someone!</p>

<p>I have a JSON-based treegrid that auto loads a node at a time, and it is working very well except for the sorting function. It does not appear that there is an AJAX call made when the column header is clicked. The console logs the following error:</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;">TypeError: Result of expression &#39;this.parent_id&#39; [null] is not an object.</span></p>
</p>
<p>Also, the "Loading..." dialog stays floating above the grid. Does sorting work in this context?</p>
