Thank you for your hint. I had already read it, but it doesn't fit my requirements very well because I want keep the table-related data transfer low.

Thus, I'm going now with a custom made dialog which is filled with an ajax-call to the database server.

You can try to use  edithidden: true in the editrules. You can hide some fields which you do not want to show like I did it in my old answer on the stackoverflow.

I'm faced with following problem: a table is build from records of a database but only some of the fields are rendered. In the view & edit record mode I want to render also the remaining fields for the selected record. How can I accomplish this (e.g. there is no support to use a view/edit-specific colModel)?
