Two errors have been there causing the problem. First there was an extra ',' (comma) at the end of the jqGrid settings.

The other issue appears to be  "class: 'embed'" which I had in the editoptions which the browsers don't seem to like.

I have jqGrid running fine in FF 3.5 and Chrome, but in IE8 and Safari it is completely blank with no error or anything appearing.  It is being loaded via Ajax so I'm not sure if that might have an affect?

Has it happened to anyone else?

What might be the best approach to finding the cause for this?
