Hi,

as you are doing now, I started a new project using jqgrid with PHP.

Apart from new features (incredible new features!!) I suggest you to start with some basic example that you can download in the download section (link Demo files (4.x) ), so you can see what is one right approach in having your grid working…

Generally speaking I'm using this simple architecture:

1. Html file that contain the grid definition and initialization with a URL that refer to a

2. PHP file with a DB select, making eventually some calculation and at the end og he PHP "echo json_encode($array);"

I'm simplify too much but for me a good starting point where actually the demo download examples.

Hope this could help

Cheers

Max

P.S. Do not forget also wonderful Oleg's answers on stackoverflow with many and many examples!!

Hello,

I am very new to Jqgrid, only having done some basic grids with the demo of the commercial suite version of the Jqgrid from Trirand.net. Unfortunately the project I am working on for my job does not have the budget to purchase the Suite version of the grid.

From what I understand I need to write some of the PHP files and more myself to make this grid work the way I need it to. Is this true? And if so do you have any advice on where to start with this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
