Tony,

jqGrid does in fact work with IE. All is well...life is good.

The issue was quite stupid on my part. The problem was that I had Firefox set to zoom out IE set with no zoom. I don't normally use zoom but I see that for FF it is set with cntl++ and cntl+- so apparently, I accidently set it.

I was setting the width in FF with zoom out and then complaining that in IE with no zoom, it was too wide. My bad.

This clears up a lot of IE/FF issues that I have been having.

Sorry for my loud noises. Thank you for your patience and willingness to help solve my problem. They motivated me to look closer.

Thank you for all that you do.

Jerry

Sorry, Tony, I was as little frustrated.

I mispoke on the 999 record issue. I should have said more than 999 pages in the pager. This issue after one year has suddenly disappeared. Apparently, it was some combination of configuration that I can no longer recreate. If it shows up again, I will show you the example.

The current issue that I have is that when I set a fixed width for the grid of 1070 and view it in IE6,7,8 on a 768 x 1024 screen, the grid is wider than the body. This works as expected on Foxfire. shrinkToFit is set to true and I am using jqGrid 3.6.4.

I also find that if I set autowidth:true the grid width is the sum of the columns instead of being autowidth.

I am using UI tabs, jqGrid 3.6.4.

My test site is at http://www.tngenweb.org/record..... Please view in foxfire and then IE and you should see the width issue in IE.

This sounds like cockpit error on my part but I can figure it out.

Thanks for your help and continued great work. I was frustrated with IE and not you.

Take care,

Jerry

Despite the fact that I should answer of so many posts on this forum, in order to make your and may lafe easyer a link to the problem is needed . If this is not possible you can send me the files - no data is needed.

It is easy to say when - we have more than 999 records the grid does not work in IE!!!!

Believe me this is not serious - just to say not work.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Best Regards

I fear that I will never finish my little jqGrid project. My code has been finished for some time but I can't seem to get things working with IE. Do you test with IE? I am not sure.

I have been waiting for some time for you to fix the bug with the pager in IE6,7 with more than 999 records. No worry, I changed the _center width myself after the gird is loaded, life is good.

Next, I try to set a fixed width for the grid. It works just fine in Foxfire and is the expected width but in IE6,7,8, the width is wider than the body - what gives?

When I started with jqGrid based on jQuery, I didn't expect to have to worry about browser issues but it seems that is the big issue with jqGrid. Do you take cross browser seriously or is that up to the rest of us?

Sorry to rant but this is very frustrating!

All the best,

Jerry
