Make sure that the JSON is in the right encoding, obviously it isn't. I'm using however version 4 and UTF-8 encoding

and everything works as expected. I'm pretty sure that it is your JSON, that causes the problem. To ensure it is the right

encoding use a editor like Aptana or even Eclipse.

i modi the jqgrid demo 38array2.html use Chinese Characters in content and column name.But the right tabs are displayed as junk characters in jqgrid v3.80 demo;
