In your case you don't even need to make a custom button. There is a built In Add button, just read the documentation about navGrid, and you will find the solution.

I am using jqGrid for my project.  I'm new to JqGrid and still learning it.  I want to intoduce an add button to the grid that when I click, sends me to a new page where I can add data to the form.  Do you guys have an example of this? Thanks.
