I found the problem in case anyone encounters this in the future. It appears it is an IE bug when you setup an overflow:auto div and the containing elements have a postion:relative style. The outer div must also have postion:relative. This link described our exact problem. Hopefully this will help someone else in the future:

It appears that this is a problem in IE 7 as well. The tables run outside of the height of the div and will not scroll inside of it. This is what the HTML looks like

The height of the div is being set with javascript when the page loads. It has the same effect if the height is hardcoded into the style. Does anyone see anythign wrong with this? It has the desired behavior in IE 8 & FF

Has anyone tried to stuff multiple grids in a div with a fixed height using the overflow for the scroll to see the grids in the div? We have it working in FF, but the grids run outside of the div in IE. We cannot figure out what the cause is. Does anyone else have this problem, or have any suggestions on how to fix?

Thanks,
