Hi Tony,

I have used jqGrid extensively. I work with master detail grids every day. To me the only thing that is missing is a way to enter a single field into a table from a large dataset, that is a dataset that is too large to exist in a select drop down. For this autocomplete "almost" works. Usually you want to identify the field with the description, but store the key. Autocomplete does not work this way.

What I really want is a select with an external combobox selected drop down. I have not been able to find one, and I am not yet skilled enough to write one.

Thanks for replying, I hope my request triggers something for you.

I have successfully used the autocomplete as well as an autocomplete wrapper called SelectToAutocomplete in dataInit: The second wrapper creates a combobox for medium sized drop downs (say less than 1000 options). What would really be nice is a similar combobox for an ajax call to return selective portions of larger datasets. This would allow the selectbox in the end to contain only only one option, that is the selected one. This means that a single field in the editor would have a value that was different from its display value. Only a select option pair can do this.

This would significantly extend jqGrid and allow for user selected "drop downs" based on user input.

I have searched for an autocomplete wrapper that will do this and been unsuccessful in that search.
