This would be both cool and useful. I have a grid contained within a panel (using the UI.Layout plugin). When the panel is resized, the grid resizes. The problem is that some columns contain essentially fixed width data, such as dates and really should not be resized, while other columns contain data that should be resized (such as title information formatted with the elipsis).

Hello,

Do you have try shrinkToFit : false - this way all the width will remain as setted in the colModel

Hi Tony, great work BTW

I think it would be really nice if a user could determine if a column resizes when autowidth is set true. This way the rest of the columns that hasn't got the width parameter would occupy the remaining space.

For example I don't need the ID column to resize and I want it to be 50px wide, but the TITLE column should use the remaining space if no width is set in colmodel and autowidth is set to true

It would be really easy to implement and it would be a cool feature
