The height auto is not compatible with scroll : 1.

I'm using JQGrid 4.6.0.

 

I'm using virtual scroll.  When the height is set to an integer, virtual scroll works great.  When the height is set to '100%' or 'auto', and I scroll past my initial data set, no additional requests are sent for data (neither populate or populateVisible are called based on my simple debugging).

 

Just to be clear, working config

...

scroll: 1,

height: 600

...

 

Broken config

...

scroll: 1,

height: 'auto'

 

This looks like a bug to me, but perhaps I am missing something.
