This happens when the grid columns are resizeable. It only happens in Internet Explorer 7 and in Internet Explorer 8 in compatability mode.

When the columns are not resizeable then the columns look fine in ie7 and ie8 in compatability mode.

I tried to fix this using css with white-space:nowrap and overflow:none. That did not help.
