I have encountered identical bug like described in this thread:

When I edit ui.jqgrid.css file and I remove following line:

/* moda dialog */
.jqmOverlay { background-color: #000; }

Then the blinking effect with black color in IE8 diseappears. I do not know if it is a proper solution though?
